Pets in Hollywood given holistic hands-on healing as therapy
AP) - Reiki for dogs is now trending in Hollywood as a holistic hands-on form of healing for your pets.
It began in Japan in the 1920's and comes from the Japanese words ''rei'' meaning spirit, and ''ki'' (or qi) meaning energy.
Pronounced ''Ray-key'' it is translated as ''universal life energy" and is based on the idea that all living beings have life energy flowing through their bodies.
When life energy is high then pets and humans are healthy, balanced, more relaxed, and have a sense of peace and are less likely to get sick.According to Eastern teachings, if life energy is low, the body is less resistant to sickness and if pets are already sick or injured, they are more affected by stress so Reiki can be a compliment to western medicine, Chinese medicine and homeopathy.
Practitioners call it a loving and compassionate form of healing that animals respond to on an intuitive level.While some may still consider it is a pseudoscience, those who provide the treatment for pets say it helps with physical sickness and injuries and helps emotionally and behaviourally.
